Annual Elder Advocacy Boot Camp
The Elder Advocacy Boot Camp is a unique opportunity to learn solutions that assist those on the front lines of elder care to serve their clients and patients better.
Attendees in the past have included:
Social Workers, Nursing Home Administrators, Senior Placement Advisors, Care Managers, those in the Elder Care Community, and other professionals serving seniors.
Our Objectives
- Understand ALTCS's medical assessment rubric and how to ensure applicants receive the maximum assessment points.
- Differentiate between strategic and inefficient spend-down methods for ALTCS eligibility.
- Analyze how elder care-focused estate planning differs from traditional planning, and why standard plans often fail when ALTCS is required.
- Identify legal and financial strategies to preserve more assets for the healthy spouse under ALTCS rules.
- Distinguish between normal aging, non-normal aging and various types of dementia. Learn how to respond to the "behaviors" or expressions of a dementia patient.
- Implement actionable strategies to strengthen resilience in older populations to prevent them from feeling the impact of loneliness and social isolation.
- Define the role of an end-of-life doula and learn how their support differs from legal, medical and spiritual help and can support individuals and families before, during and after death.
- Discover practical solutions to avoid costly legal crises—such as guardianship and conservatorship—that can arise from inadequate planning.
